THOMAS G. ABER
Thomas G. Aber is known for his umpiring skills as an ASA Umpire, PIAA Umpire
and NCAA Umpire.
Tom’s first exposure to softball started in 1965 as a player for Ranck’s
Funeral Home in Milton, PA.
In 1966 Tom became an ASA registered umpire and in 1973 became a PIAA
(Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association) official in softball and
later joined the NCAA association. Tom remains active in these umpire
associations today.
Tom has
worked three AA Regional Tournaments, five State Championships and two
National Championships for the Amateur Softball Association. He had the honor
of being the “Home Plate Umpire” when the 2008 Olympic Team “Bound for Beijing
Tour” was hosted in Williamsport, PA.
In
addition to Tom being a softball umpire he has served as the District Four
Commissioner for the ASA of PA and has been inducted into the District 4
Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
Tom has
also worked state championships in the PIAA and is currently the District Four
Softball Interpreter and the Official Evaluator. He has conducted PIAA State
Umpire Clinics for the past seven years. Along with doing ASA and PIAA Tom
has worked two Division II NCAA Regional Championships, four Division II NCAA
Championships and is the Patriot League Assigner for Bucknell University
Softball holding that position for the past 22 years.
Along
with being a softball official, Tom is also a PIAA basketball official, PIAA
basketball official evaluator and a NCAA basketball official. |
